WHAT IS A VETERAN?

Any person who was drafted or enlisted on or before Sept. 7, 1980, who served on active military duty and received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions; OR any person who enlisted after Sept. 7, 1980, or who entered active duty after Oct. 16, 1981; completed the lesser of 24 consecutive month of active duty service or the period for which he/she was called to duty; and received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions
